Valet Program

Canyon Rim Elementary School has an a.m. student drop off procedure called the Canyon Rim Valet Program. This program is designed so you will not need to park or exit your vehicle to drop off your child(ren).

The valet drop off location is in front of the school outlined with signs, cones and yellow paint. The valets are trained parents who will be stationed in front of the school. Drivers wishing to use the Valet service will pull into the valet drop off area and the valets will flag the driver to the proper location. When the first vehicle in line reaches the farthest parent valet (in front of the office) the valet will signal the driver to stop. The trailing drivers will be signaled to stop directly behind each other.

When the driver has made a complete stop and put the vehicle into park, the valet will open the passenger door, greet the family with a “good morning,” and help exit the child(ren) and their backpacks out of the vehicle. It is extremely important for your child to exit on the curbside only to avoid traffic from the fast lane. Then the valet will tell the driver, “have a nice day,” and close the vehicle door. The vehicles (in a line) will pull forward and out of the valet area. You will NOT pull to the left into the drive-thru lane once your child exits your vehicle.

Drivers- please do NOT get out of your vehicle; this slows the process down. Backpacks must be in the vehicle and NOT in the trunk. Students standing in the roadway pulling their backpacks from the trunk are put in a dangerous position and this is NOT allowed.

If your child needs help walking to  class due to their young age (TK & K) or having too much to carry, just ask the valet for a “runner” and an upper grader will help carry your child’s school items and walk them to class. The “runners” are upper grade students dressed in bright orange patrol safety vests.

Our students’ safety is our top priority and we would like to thank you in advance for you and your child’s patience and cooperation. If you have any questions or suggestions or if you (the parent) are available to assist with our valet program please contact or visit the front office for a volunteer form. If your responsible, motivated upper grade student would like to be a “runner”, please have them get a student volunteer form from the office. It will need to be signed by a parent, teacher, and approved by Mrs. Krohn.
